NAil Entry Points
How Starting Points Affect Varus / Valgus: A simplified approach
How Starting Points Affect Varus / Valgus: A simplified approach
The nail is straight
A "perfect" start point will not generate a deformity (center photo)
In the proximal segment, the nail will start from wherever the selected starting point is (red, green or yellow dot) and always end up at the center of the canal (orange dot)
The path of the nail will always end up lining up to the segment with most of the canal (blue dots)
Move the proximal segment to accommodate the canal segment - resulting in varus or valgus deformity
